Day 1: San Diego
You can start your California trip by exploring San Diego for a day. This city is a perfect place for animal lovers because of the San Diego Zoo, hosting more than 3,700 animals. You can also visit Balboa Park, home to 17 attractions, gardens, and museums. The park is also where you can find great restaurants. Day 2: Anza Borrego State Park and Joshua Tree National Park

This destination is about two hours road trip from San Diego, so start the journey in the morning. During spring, you can explore the Mojave desert. The state park also offers different hiking trails.

Day 3: Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve
